Productive behavior is that which aligns with the strategic goals of an organization. On the other hand counterproductive behavior is one where the individual behaves against the goals of the organization. His behavior hurts the organizational objectives. A behavior is counterproductive behavior if it detracts the organization from its strategic direction. A behavior is counterproductive behavior if it is against the culture of the organization. Such behavior usually also hinders other employees from achieving their organizational objectives or in simple terms doing their work properly.
