    Specificity of Rhizobium

This content was COPIED from BrainMass.com - View the original, and get the already-completed solution here!

All I can think of is inoculating lots of different types of plant seedlings with the bacteria and comparing their growth with uninoculated seedlings.

As the specificity of Rhizobia-plant interactions is dependant upon genes is there some molecular or genomic way of analysing this?

any help at all would be appreciated
    - a useful web site or book would also be great

    many thanks

The specificity of rhizobium towards a plant host can vary depending on the species of rhizobium. For a list of specific interactions with good citations see http://mmbr.asm.org/cgi/reprint/59/1/124.pdf and ...

    Solution Summary

Examination of the species specific interaction between rhizobium and plants with web references.
