List three things you could do that would shift the dynamic equilibrium of an in vitro preparation of tubulin and microtubules toward the formation of microtubules. The first stage of microtubule formation is called "nucleation". The process requires tubulin, Mg++ and GTP and proceeds at 37C. This stage is relatively slow until the microtubule is initially formed. Then the second phase, called "elongation" proceeds much more rapidly.
This solution takes a pharmocological approach to the process of cytoskeleton formation in vitro. A definition of the process involved in microtubule formation is also provided.
