First, the electron transport chain is located predominantly in the inner membrane of the mitochondria is a true statement.
Why? Because the inner membrane of mitochondria contains the proteins of the electron transport chain, and is the barrier allowing the formation of a H+ gradient for ATP production through ATP synthetase.
