Fra Angelico is best known for his work in fresco, which served as a guide to the spiritual life of the community he existed in at the Sylvestrine monastery in Florence. They were intended as aids to devotion and attained a sense of blissful serenity with their immaculate coloring, economy in drawing and composition and their freedom from the accidents of time and place (Fra Angelico).
