What is a test of a proportion and give an example.
Here, the sample statistic to be tested is the sample proportion, i.e. pˉ. Its standard error is given by σ pˉ = √ (pq/n). Always normal distribution is to be used in testing of proportion. For example: a company produces a particular spicy flavor of a project and wants to check the increase in interest of such a flavor, hence continue with the production or not. The test for proportion is applicable here as the company would test the proportion of the sample being interested in the flavor via Hypothesis testing.
