The University Computing Center is open 24 hours per day. Staffing requirements vary by four-hour time periods and by day. The requirements for a two-day cycle are given in the table provided in file (These requirements repeat every two days). Staff can work either a four-hour shift or an eight-hour shift. The "eight-hour people" are paid at a rate of $9 per hour, while those working a four-hour shift are paid at a rate of $8.50 per hour. In addition, the university incurs an overhead cost of $5 per person working on any shift on any day. For example, the cost of having one person work one eight-hour shift is (8 x 9.00) + 5 = $77.
