The term family is used to describe a social group whose primary responsibility is to raise and nurture the next generation and teach them the values and beliefs that they should adhere to. Traditionally the family has been comprised of one male and one female adult who have made a long-term commitment to each other. This commitment results in the "family" living together under one roof and sharing the responsibilities of feeding, clothing, sheltering , protecting and nurturing each other.
