Some preferred ways of researching violence against women include unobstrusive, or archival, research, interviews and focus groups. Interviews would involve face-to-face interaction involving a set of consistent questions. Unobstrusive, or archival research, would involve examining relevant court and police records, newspaper articles, records at domestic violence shelters, abused women's diaries and other formal or informal records.
