1 Timothy 2:1-3

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of Elohim our Saviour."

These are very nice verses because they encompass so much about what prayer is all about. First of all, notice that there is more to "prayer" than most people think. There are components or types of prayer. There are supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks. This is very similar to what Sha'ul wrote in Philippians 4:6, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto Elohim." Here, Sha'ul mentioned prayer, supplication and thanksgiving. If you compare the two verses you'll notice that there are three common types of prayer in Sha'ul's mind.

First of all, there is fundamentally, prayer. Prayer is praise offered to Elohim for his greatness, his power, his mighty deeds, his miracles, his love, his compassions, his mercies, etc. This is the centrality of prayer. Here is an example, "Oh Yahweh, ...
