Explain why it is important for you personally to understand the beliefs of other religious groups. Explain at least one way that not understanding other religions can cause conflicts, whether between co-workers, neighbors, or even countries.

Imagine you are an outsider to a religion with which you are actually familiar. Identify one practice of this religion and explain how it might look from the perspective of an outsider unfamiliar with this religious practice. Describe any conclusions that an outsider might draw about what' s going on during this practice and why the followers would do it.

It is important to understand the beliefs of other religious groups because it sheds light on how others understand the world. Our behaviors are often a direct reflection of our values and ethics which are directly associated with our religious upbringing and faith traditions. Therefore, when we understand another's religious beliefs, we can better understand what motivates him/her to act in the world as s/he does.
