Throughout time people have experienced problems, some of these problems are minor, and some are extremely difficult to deal with. When these problems become overwhelming and lives are in danger, it is important that these individuals seek help in order to continue to live productive lives. One very difficult crisis that a therapist may encounter is a person that is contemplating suicide. Very often a person in this situation may not seek help; therefore it is important for friends and relatives to know what to look for in these cases. Another challenge that a therapist may encounter in this situation is that it is very important to act fast, in order to avoid this person becoming injured. In every situation a therapist experiences certain challenges, it is situations such as these that enable the therapist to become more competent in handling tough situations. Some challenges are much tougher than others, it seems that an example of the toughest challenge is one in which a life is in danger.
First of all when dealing with a person contemplating suicide, it is important to know what to look for. It is important to know about risk factors, know the facts, immediate dangers, what to do in immediate emergencies, and treatment.
