I will approach it from a Cognitive Behaviorist perspective

i) Attitudes are much like our thoughts. They are part of our beliefs. For example, a few generations ago, there was a common attitude about children- "they should be seen but not heard". This attitude encouraged parents to reinforce a complacent behaviors in their children. Parents demanded absolute obedience, no opportunity to disagree or express their opinion or ideas. Children of this generation were taught that they ought to obey and do what is asked and certainly not answer back or voice their ideas.
