Abraham Maslow is a proponent of this theory and concepts include self-actualization and hierarchy of needs. The theory is interested in human potential, and how we fulfill that potential. Based on the hierarchy of needs, interpersonal relations fill necessary human needs (security and safety when a child; love and belonging throughout life, etc.) that are also essential for person growth and personality development.
