Although I personally prescribe to the notion that leaders manifest as a combination of both born and made, I do advocate that superior leaders have a minimum number of natural-born abilities, or as the article refers to as "baseline capacity necessary for effective leadership" (136). I have never seen a leader who was not a people-person, motivator, relationship builder, or communicator. Thus, the interplay of nature and nurture qualities seems to largely impact one's leadership potential immensely.

However, the research shows a primary emphasis on experience, not inborn traits. Scholars show that leaders are made most predominantly.
