Can you please help me with these questions:

1. Gustav Fechner and Psychophysics: In your opinion, who is the father of experimental psychology? Was it Wundt, who relied on introspection, or was it Fechner, who relied on observable behavior? What evidence most affected your opinion?

2. Motion detection: Why is motion detection such a powerful skill? Why is it so important? What do you think would happen to a species that didn't possess motion detection?

3. Weber's Law: Assume that a man wants to buy a three-piece-suit and a sweater. If you were the salesman, and you knew about Weber's Law, which would you show him first in order to get him to spend the most money? How about if you were a car salesman? Would it be better to wait until the customer has decided to buy the $10,000 vehicle before offering the $300 paint protecting topcoat, or should you mention that while you're negotiating the purchase price of the car? In each example, why would your strategy be advisable, based on Weber's Law?

4. Blind sight: What do you think is going on in cases of blind sight? How can they see even though they don't know that they can see? Interpret this phenomenon in terms of top-down vs. bottom-up processing.

5. Color Blindness: How does a person get color-blindness? How do we test for color-blindness? Are there things that a color-blind person can't safely do?

6. Recognizing your own voice: Why does our own voice sound unfamiliar when we hear it on tape? Why does it sound unfamiliar when we plug our ears? Make sure to discuss the difference between bone-conducted and air conducted sound.

7. Hearing loss: What types of environmental noises can cause hearing loss over consistent exposures? What constitutes consistent exposure? Do you, or anyone you know, suffer from hearing loss or tinnitus? What is tinnitus? How have you/they dealt with it? Does the sufferer refuse to do anything about it, demanding instead that everyone who speaks to them must stop mumbling? Why do you suppose there is such a stigma about having hearing loss, given that so many people suffer from it?

8. Cultural Differences in Pain: What accounts for differences in pain tolerance? What role does fear of the unknown play in the experience of pain? Make sure to include a discussion of endorphins and adrenaline.

9. Visual Agnosia: Given your knowledge of the brain (from Chapter 2), how can you explain Dr. P's symptoms? On which hemisphere was his damage, and where do you think the damage was within that hemisphere? How do you know? How does Dr. P's case show support for feature detectors in the perceptual system?
