There are a number of psychotherapies used by clinicians. I have chosen Cognitive , dialectic & behaviour (based on learning theory) therapies as they are commonly used to treat a host of disorders. Let me begin with Cognitive therapy. It is used by clinicians to help patients rethink and reassess their patterns of negative thinking. Consider an individual open to panicking when being a car passenger due to trauma of a car accident he or she was a part of, surviving barely. Said individual was not driving and as such, feelings of being without control leads to anxiety and behavior that becomes controlling for the purpose of getting over the trauma or possibility of risk once again.
