I believe that pharmacological therapies must always be combined with cognitive therapy for best results. Despite the diagnosis the medication is not a long term solution. Altering brain or body chemistry is a short-term solution to allow for the real work of identifying the issue and taking steps to resolve. Only in severe cases is a pure drug regimen appropriate and even then the individual needs a regular evaluation to assess which may include a monitored medication vacation. Even in the case of severe psychosis the medications will cause symptoms such as neurological problems that would not have manifested ...
