    The ethnic groups selected are Iranians and Iraqis. The Iraq–Iran conflict subsists as a part of the Persian Gulf conflicts, and the Iranians and Iraqis have a long history of war. The Iraqi people are comprised of a variety of ethnic groups including Arabs (71%), Kurds (19%), and the rest a variety of different groups including Assyrians, and Armenians. The official language of the Iraqi is Arab, although many other languages are spoken by a variety of ethnic groups including the Kurdish, Delta, Arabic, Mesopotamian Gelet Ariaib, and North Syrian Arabic.     Iran’s ethnic makeup is comprised of Persians (51%), Azer (24%) i, 8% Gilaki and Mazandarani (8%), Kurds (7%), Arab (3%), Lur (2%), Baloochi (2%), Turkmen (2%), other (1%). The government of Iran is an Islamic republic. Iran has a heterogeneous population speaking a variety of Indo-Iranian, Semitic, and Turkic languages. The largest language group consists of the Indo-Iranian languages, and in 1986 was 70 % of the population. Persian is the official language of the country.
