Learning is the lifelong process of transforming information and experience into knowledge, skills, behaviors, and attitudes. Behavior is very important in learning because theorists have come to the realization that any results of learning require observable behavior changes. The things that we have learned will remain with us until we learn something new or forget what we have previously learned. Learning comes through experience. Previous experience conditions a person to respond to some things and ignore others.
Certain behaviors can be acquired through the process of conditioning. Classical conditioning occurs when a naturally occurring stimulus is paired with a response. Next, a previously neutral stimulus is paired with a naturally occurring stimulus. Eventually, the previously neutral stimulus comes to evoke the response without the presence of the naturally occurring stimulus.
