I think that the personality theory that best provides the explanation of how personality develops in an individual, would be the behaviorist theory known as operant conditioning. I think that this theory best addresses personality development from childhood to adult, largely due to the fact that an individual's behavior is largely controlled by the results or consequences of the actions that they take or decisions that they make. When an individual receives a reward or positive reinforcement for an activity then they tend to continue this activity, and when an individual receives a punishment or negative reinforcement, then they tend to cease those activities and or decisions. ...
