The good: This correctional facility seems to use the inmates to earn their keep. They are expected to work on farms, gardens, construct new facilities, perform repairs and support and maintain the operational functions of the facility. The Bad: The one bad aspect of this work force is that the inmates are allowed outside the facility. This could lead to escape and a possible threat to the outlining communities. Offenders are also serving an average of 86.4% of their sentences which should be increased. Do the crime, pay the time. One bad thing for the inmates is that not all facilities are air-conditioned. Only in areas where the heat becomes so unbearable (i.e. Lancaster CI and mental facilities) are the facilities air conditioned.
