The differences between outpatient and inpatient care include:

(a) inpatient care is provided in a hospital setting, clinic or care facility vs. outpatient in which patients commute to a hospital or health care facility;

(b) inpatient hospital care can be costly vs. outpatient where costs can be more controlled;

(c) there can be more frequent evaluations in an inpatient facility versus outpatient where evaluations is dependent upon patient's availability; and

(d) inpatient is more accessible than outpatient, particularly among disabled and older person.
