The strengths associated with Uniform Crime Reporting are predicated upon the fact that these statistics are obtained from across the country wherein every police department is required to provide statistics on their reported rapes. The Federal Bureau of Investigation must then compile these to determine the rates of sexual assault as well as data for each city and police department in these cities. In reference to NCVS, these are reported by victims through anonymous surveys wherein the victims report those rapes that weren't reported the police, and these are reported through surveys wherein the victims may be telling the truth or may not be telling the truth, which is what is a downside for NCVS reports. A strength of this type of reporting is predicated upon the fact that these reports assist in the "dark" statistics associated with UCR, which are crimes that aren't reported to police representing a large figure in regard to the ...
