Please help with the following problem involving rights and obligations:

What happens when one party to a case is represented by any attorney, what are the paralegals obligations to the unrepresented party during litigation?

I would assume that this is a conflict of interest.

Hello. I have provided the following to assist you in formulating your response.

Problem: What happens when one party to a case is represented by any attorney, what are the paralegals obligations to the unrepresented party during litigation?

Solution: When there is a pro se party (a party without an attorney), and a represented party (a party with an attorney), the matter will proceed as standard of operation in that jurisdiction. Nothing changes as far as rules and timelines when one party is represented and the other is not. An unrepresented party must ensure that they meet any deadlines as required by law to answer any requests made, respond to any discovery, and show up in Court just as a represented party would. A paralegal has no obligation to the unrepresented party at all. The paralegal works for the law firm that represents the represented party (the client). The only obligation that a paralegal has is to provide all correspondence to the unrepresented party as required by statute, to provide them courtesy copies of any pleadings to the Court, and to provide them with Notice of any hearings.
