Community policing can assist in reducing juvenile crime by working in collusion with community members, parents, and businesses to develop centers within the community where juveniles can use their "down time" constructively and engage in constructive activities. The key to preventing community crime is limiting the ability for juveniles to engage in statutory offenses such as truancy, underage drinking, and breaking curfew. If the community and police work together on these statutory offenses, they can prevent more egregious offenses from occurring.
