Jury composition directly influences cases, which is why the striking of jurors by defense and prosecution teams is one of the most pivotal roles in the trial. Jury composition can influence cases because the background and beliefs of the juror could either assist the defense team or hamper their client's chances at being acquitted. In the same light jurors who are anti-death penalty would most certainly be removed in a death penalty case by the prosecutor because they would inhibit his or her chances of receiving this verdict if the prosecution gets the conviction.
