While comparing and contrasting the two, please note how The Compromise of 1850 involved a series of five legislative enactments. Senator Henry Clay of Kentucky dealt with much of its work. It was an attempt to pacify political differences.

Like the Missouri Comprise, it also involved dividing antislavery and proslavery parts of America and also Congress. Please note how its Omnibus Bill dealt with the question of whether slavery should be sanctioned or prohibited in the regions acquired from Mexico after the Mexican War.
