In terms of military/political errors, please note that there is overlap in these areas. One big error was that while Napoleon believed in government "for" the people, he rejected government "by" the people. Thus, one mistake was using France as a police state with networks of secret police and spies. Citizens were not allowed express their opinions without Napoleon's approval. This tactic proved to be erroneous politically.
