Primary brain tumors that begin in the brain will stay in the brain.
-Occur in people of every ages, but are frequent in children and older adults.
-Metastatic brain tumors that begins as a cancer elsewhere in the body and spread to the brain are common in adults than in children.
Brain tumors are:
- the second leading cause of cancer related deaths in children (either male or females) under age 20.
- Second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in male ages 20-39.
- Fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in females ages 20-39.

Brain tumor is a major problem in the US. In 2010, it is estimated that more than 688,096 people in US were living with the diagnosis of primary brain or central nervous system tumor. Out of 100,000 people in the US, about 221 were diagnose with brain tumor.
