Topic : To persuade my audience to graduate from school.

Thesis: Having a college education will give enable the student to give back to the community, have a better quality of lfe, and participate in the community.

Common Ground: Everyone wants to get a job to provide opportuniies to advasnce in a career.

Credibility: I am determined to finish my education to be able to make a living and take care of myself.

I AM ALSO SUPPOSE TO DO A WORK CITED PAGE IN MLA FORMAT FROM AN ARTICLE PERTAINING TO THE TOPIC: NEW YOKR TIMES OR ANY JOURNAL.

Okay- let's take a look at what we have here. You have an excellent start- great effort so far! Public Speaking is my favorite class to teach- you are so fortunate to be taking it.

I need you to think about a couple of things first (just suggestions!):

A. Who is your audience? Are you giving this speech to a bunch of students who are already enrolled in college? Are they freshman in high school? Or are they seniors who have already made their decision? How is this speech going to impact them (if at all)- haven't they already made the choice to go to college for the reasons you have outlined? Or is the purpose of the speech to reinforce that decision- if that is so than I would verbally note that in your intro.

B. Give back and participate in your community- you may want to make a clear difference between the two as you have them as two separate main points.

C. Common ground- hold on are you sure everyone in your audience wants a career with advancement? Maybe the common ground is that you're all coming to a point in your life ...
