Cultural identity and ethnic identity are the same thing for *some* peoples across the globe. However, they are not the same thing, and a few examples will point that difference out to you. Immigrants have both their ethnic identity (such as Chinese) and their cultural identity (such as American). This is true for any immigrant who has relocated to any new nation, especially so for the first generation born in the new country to immigrant parents. They are the most powerful example of the duality of the ethnic/cultural identity issue. However, this does not always relax over time.
