The pros of using a uniform assessment for a statewide curriculum are that each student is evaluated using the same instrument or instruments. You would not need to compare scores from different types of tests. Also, the end of year testing would most likely be based on a state wide core curriculum. For instance all 11th grade students taking English would learn and be graded on the same materials in the core curriculum.
