Harry is your 7-year-old son, and Sasha is your 11-year-old daughter. Refer to Piaget's theory of genetic epistemology and to Bruner, Vygotsky, or other cognitive theories, and describe the ways in which you would help these two children in their school studies. Harry is having trouble with vocabulary and reading. Sasha is having a problem converting fractions to decimals and with converting numbers to percentages.

Answer the following questions based on the scenario:

The three main cognitivist theories are those promulgated by Piaget, Bruns, and Vygotsky. Piaget's theory of cognitive development focuses upon the changes that occur in children and adolescents' and attempts to explain the changes in logical thinking that occur throughout the life cycle. The theory is placated upon four stages that are predicated upon maturation and experience wherein each stage produces a different level of logical and critical thinking by children. According to Piaget's theory, logical thinking is predicated upon how learners interact with their learning environment as well as through schema, which represents the strategy that learners use to integrate new knowledge and information into existing knowledge. Piaget promulgated that children are active learners capable of constructing knowledge from their learning environments wherein learners assimilate and accommodate new schema by engaging in complex cognitive development processes throughout their life cycle that are a result of interaction with physical and social environments that are key for cognitive development development in the four different stages.
