Curving Grades

Not what you're looking for?

Ask Custom Question

Could someone please help me with curving the following grades in different ways and in the new way of curving grades so that the students with high scores are not diminished or 'punished' but are in fact awarded? Please? Can you give several scenarios /ways/examples how to do this-using different averages, etc., ? The grades are as follows.

55, 52, 51, 49, 49, 48, 47, 47, 45, 44, 39, 38, 38 it was out of 60 but I need to round off grades to show as if 100% eventually? I would prefer an average of 80, 85, 87 etc., can we do a bunch just for options please and say what each will be ? Thanks

Also, as you can see several grades are quite low-what would you do with a scenario/class like this? Would it be better as well to let the students with low grades redo the questions they got wrong? Or curving? As it's also less work to regrade etc? Thanks

There are many ways to curve the scores. I have described a few of the most popular ways below:

1) Flat Scale- simply add the same amount of points to each students score. For example, if it was decided to give three points back, 55/60 would become 58/60, 52/60 would become 55/60, etc. (It's possible to give students enough points that students are scoring above a 100% on the exam, which would reward high scoring students and nothing would be taken away from their score.)

2) Move the High Grade to 100%- in this case instead of being out of 60, the test would become out of 55. So the students' scores would be 55/55, 52/55, 51/55, etc.

3) Remove ...
