Encapsulation has to do with the separation between implementation and interface; that is when you encapsulate an object, you make its code internal and not accessible to the outside except through a well defined interface. This is also known as data hiding and its basically separating implementation and interface.
For example we can have a base class of vehicle and a derived class from it named cars with some added features.
