Ask Custom Question

Design a system for the organization of your choice. This could be for a current or former employer or some fictitious organization. The system you design might be data storage, telecommunications, e-commerce, accounting information, manufacturing process system, inventory management, or some other approved system. You will discover (or create, if you choose a fictional organization) and explain the main systems in place, discuss the integration, and explain how the data collected by these systems helps the organization make decisions and carry out the strategic plan.

Specific parts of the design paper should include:

* Determine the System (Needs Analysis)
o Problem to solve
o Determine specific issue
o What part can technology solve
o Get input from creators and users
o How solving this problem supports the organization's mission

* Integration of system into current organization system
o Describe current major systems
o Discuss compatibility of the new system with current systems
o Explore various decision-making support models
o Evaluate the advantages and limitations of data in DSS
o Explore different implementation processes
o Define the process chosen
o Explore security issues for this system

* Feasibility
o Hardware determinants (types, capacity, speed, processing power)
o Software determinants (types, applications, compatibility, integration)
o maintenance and upgrade, obsolescence issues, future changes in technology
o Cost analysis (total upfront cost, total cost of ownership)
o Organizational culture and technology changes

* Measurement
o Critical success factors (how often it will be monitored, how we will know it is successful, creator and/or user of the data/system input)
o Efficiency measurement (how has it increased or not increased efficiency)
o Cost measurement (save costs, ROI on initial outlay)

System Build Project
For this project, you will design a system for the organization of your choosing. This could be for a current or former employer or some fictitious organization (Drum Circular). The system you design might be data storage, telecommunications, e-commerce, accounting information, manufacturing process system, inventory management, or some other system approved by your instructor.
You will discover (or create, if you choose a fictional organization) and explain the main systems in place, discuss the integration, and explain how the data collected by these systems helps the organization make decisions and carry out the strategic plan.
This project must meet the written communication skills at a Bachelor level competency as described in the Writing Across the Curriculum Initiative.
Specific parts of the paper should include (below).

• Determine the System (Needs Analysis)

o Problem to solve
Drum Circular was founded as an online social network that connects visitors with drum circles, drum and dance performances, workshops, and other related resources on the planet.
The problem to solve included the redesign of an e-commerce, social networking system for that connects communities of drummers and dancers. The former template under the Joomla system was incompatible with numerous browsers, and ran slow due to software coding errors.

o Determine specific issue
The specific issue involved determining what template and system would be appropriate for DrumCircular.com.

o What part can technology solve
Technology solves the organization's goal, which is to link drummers, dancers, instructors, and performers with live shows, drum circles, workshops or classes, and other gatherings.

o Get input from creators and users
Input from the creator and users provided by the organization's founder, "Michelle Lee"
Users: For example see feedback on Facebook, or those received on a weblog about "Drummer Hand Care" here:

o How solving this problem supports the organization's mission
Solving the technology problem supports the organization's mission, which is "to connect drummers and dancers with each other," as Drum Circular is an online entity that functions primarily via the World Wide Web.

• Integration of system into current organization system

o Describe current major systems
The current major system used includes popular social networking sites, such as Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more.
o Discuss compatibility of the new system with current systems
