To counter the effects of the weak economy, the Federal Funds rate has been kept at a low level of 0.25 percent. This low rate ensures that loans are available to businesses at reasonable rates. The Federal Funds rate also keeps the prime rate down. According to November 2012 figures the WSJ Prime Rate was 3.25%. The low rate makes finance accessible to businesses. It positively affects the business environment.
