a. In this part of the question, we have to find the present value of an annuity. An annuity is an equal number of payments over a period of years. In this case, it is $4,000.
The formula is

N = number of years = 9

PV = 4000 * (1 - 1 . )
0.06 (1 + 0.06)^9

PV = 27,206.7691

b. In this circumstance you have n = 20, r = 18%, so plug in these values into 1.0
