Introduction
For this paper, the case of Wal-Mart will be taken to analyze the business policy and strategy. The paper will discuss about the vision and mission statement of Wal-Mart along with the external assessment and organization's intensive strategy. The paper will also include its SWOT analysis and further recommendation to extend its operation.
Vision and Mission Statement
The mission statement of Wal-Mart is to help people to live a standard life through providing them maximum opportunity to save money (Wal-Mart, 2011). The company has been successful to achieve its mission as it has constantly provided low price products to its customer in compare to its competitor. It is the culture of the company to constantly listen its customers to understand their needs. As a part of its mission statement, the company has identified health care, energy efficiency and ethical sourcing that could help to accomplish its mission (Reynolds, 2009). It has successfully transformed these issues to achieve its mission through providing affordable and accessible quality health care facility. Along with this, the company has also helped its customers to reduce its energy cost to follow its mission statement
At the same time, the vision statement of the company is to be the worldwide leader in retail industry (Wal-Mart, 2011). To achieve this vision, the company constantly asked suggestions and ideas from the sales floor and front line employees to better satisfy its customers that is necessary for business leadership. It has also introduced three basic beliefs and values to respect each individual, provide better services to its customers and always strive for the excellence. The company has ensured long-term growth for its supplier to accomplish in its vision (Wellum, 2011). The company has also opened its stores all over the world to capture the retail industry and to become worldwide leader.
