1. Leadership competencies, characteristics, and considerations that the plant's executive team should use when hiring new managers and supervisors for the plant.
2. The strategic environment of the new manufacturing plant using a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis process. Your analysis should consider not just the new start-up plant, but also the manufacturing industry as a whole.

A competent and effective leader can handle any critical situation in a smooth manner. Manager and supervisors are responsible for the entire operations of a new plant. There will be a discussion of leadership competency and strategic environment for the new plant of ABC Complete Kitchens. It will discuss competency, characteristics and considerations for the hiring of a new manager. A SWOT analysis will be also conducted.

Leadership Competencies, Characteristics and Considerations
Leadership is a process of directing, guiding and controlling the people to attain a common goal. A new plant needs a strong leadership that is competent enough to mitigate the risk of environmental risks and uncertainties (Storey, 2004). Effective leadership is directly related to the productivity and profitability. Without having a strong leadership at new plant, it is not possible to perform the operations in a right direction. Hiring of a manager or supervisor for a new plant is a critical task that must be performed thoughtfully. There are different aspects that should use by company executive in the selection procedure. These are as follow:

Leadership competencies: Leadership is a kind of direction given by the people to the followers. A manager and supervisor play a vital role in the success or failure of a plant operation. Leadership competencies assist the manager and supervisor to handle or manage critical situations (Storey, 2004). In order to ensure an effective operation Personnel that possess key competencies must be selected for a manager post. Key aspects that form a leader competent are as follow:

Leadership style: Leadership style must be considered by the manager. It is a vital competency for a leader. There are different leadership styles like charismatic leadership style, autocratic leadership style, democratic and participatory style. All these styles have their own implications for the organizations (Storey, 2004). An effective leadership style can result into a good management. Right use of leadership style most of the time results into a winning situation. Therefore, it is necessary to consider this factor while selecting and developing manager and supervisor for new plant.

Approach: Leadership approach followed by the personnel should be also assessed before selecting them for a manager or supervisor post.

Decision making: Decision making skills of a leader also act as a critical success factor in terms of organizational effectiveness (Lancaster & Reynolds, 2005). Decision making power of person should be also assessed before hiring as a manager or supervisor.

Problem solving skills: Problem solving skills also play a great role in the effective leadership practices. Only a good problem solver can face the challenges of competitors. So, it is necessary for executive team to consider the problem solving skills during the selection and development of manager and supervisor.

Initiative taking ability: Initiative taking ability is the standard for a competent leader. Some challenging tasks need initiatives by the responsible personnel like manager and supervisors (Grimme & Grimme, 2008). So, it should use while hiring managers and supervisors at new plant.
