There are 4 major drivers of globalization: rapid advancements in technology, economics, politics, and culture. Of the 4, the most eminent is technology as its rapid advancement has triggered all the other drivers which resulted in globalization. Every year, the communications and transactions are rapidly increasing resulting in an integration of the cultural forces of international societies.
The advancements in transportation technology was the major contributing factor that enabled international trading which led to the exchange of different products and sharing of ideas and cultural influences inherent of every country or society. In the 17th century, there were various explorers and merchants navigating to various parts of the world which started globalization.
Recently, technology advancements that have been swiftly influencing and transforming the way people do their things, has furthermore hastened globalization. The computer and the Internet are the major sources of this acceleration. The telecommunications technology has made communication easier and more convenient as well as less expensive. It is now easy to relay information and to send data to other parts of the world.
With the rapid growth of technology, people from other parts of the world can easily communicate which results in an increase in culture influences. Various types of media are accessible to children and they help mold their mindset. Commercial opportunities are now wider in scale and can even be done through the Internet. Political forces are more open as it is easier for them to reach their counterparts in other nations for trade and for facilitating cooperative development.
