Wal-Mart claims that it wants to be an advocate for minority and women owned businesses, but, whenever Wal-Mart opens its stores in an area, 50% of the small businesses in the area have to close down. A large number of these businesses are minority and women owned businesses. So, this is a major threat to the community where Wal-Mart opens a store (1).
