Wal-Mart has an overall positive social reputation. It is said that consumers vote with their feet. Can over 100 million consumers be wrong? That is the number of consumers shopping at Walmart each week. Walmart has a positive social reputation, built on strong values and morals. Walmart's website states the core of each one of their rules and interactions with customers are based on "the basic value of respect for the customer, associates, and suppliers" (Walmart, 2012). Walmart is one of the largest private employers in the United States and Canada and the largest in Mexico. It offers an average full-time hourly wages of $11.75, and provides 1.2 million employees with health insurance. Walmart pays above retail standards for employees that have little experience, low levels of skill, and often demand part-time work due to other commitments.
