Systematic barriers: These are guiding principles and practices that create barriers to advancement of women in the Army. If these guiding principles have arbitrarily been formed and the practices developed over time and do not contribute to overall utility, then from the utilitarian perspective the barriers to advancement are not justified. If these guiding principles and practices do not contribute to the outcome then the systematic barriers to advancement are not moral. Utilitarianism is a type of consequentiality.
