QUALITATIVE MEASUREMENT IN THE WORK SETTING

Measurement is defined by Leedy and Ormrod (2005) as, "limiting the data of any phenomenon so that those data may be interpreted and ultimately compared to an acceptable qualitative or quantitative standard". This definition indicates a definite phenomenon or issue that would be the subject of the measurement. Measurement facilitates the interpretation of data in order that a phenomenon or an issue may be explained, a curiosity may be answered, or a difficulty may be solved.
Measurement may also mean assessment of the extent of a particular behaviour such as measuring the productivity of an employee, the satisfaction of buyers, the financial health of an organization, the mental capacities, knowledge, and skills of a person, the effectiveness of a manager, the ...
