1. Mass exodus of customers in a segment: AT&T had to sell off AT&T Wireless as millions of customers left the company. The reason for this was that there was substandard customer service, inadequate coverage and dropped calls. In case of other companies if a defective or a faulty product is sold the strategy is to recall the faulty product. For example, recently 500,000 Toyota Tundra pickup trucks were recalled because of a steering problem. This strategy can be adapted by AT&T by offering improved customer service at the same price and returning the fees charged for dropped calls and substandard service.

2. There was an Electronic Frontier foundation's class-action lawsuit against the company that AT&T illegally cooperated in a National Security Agency surveillance program.
