The role of incentives in the workplace is to provide a source of motivation for members
of the workforce to achieve desired goals identified by the organization. Incentives are useful
in organizations that wish to promote and embrace innovation, as they encourage workers to
try new processes and to contribute to the innovative process, with their own ideas. Training is
necessary in innovative organizations, as new processes, products or procedures may be
foreign to much of the work force and they will require some acquisition of knowledge in order
to fully understand how the innovation works or what their specific roles related to the
innovation may be. Training may also be the key in getting workers past the resistance stage
and toward an attitude of acceptance and interest. If workers do not understand how the
innovation affects them, they are not likely to embrace it or even cooperate in utilizing the
innovation.

Education may go along with training but may also be an entity in itself, where training
is not necessary, but the workforce must acquire knowledge about an innovation, such as
features of a new product or aspects of a new system that ...
