The culture has major impact on the formation of ethics as each cultural background is different with respect to their respective philosophies, customs, practices, preferences,etc. Ethical standards are formed by individuals and companies keeping in mind their own cultural background. Every culture brings its own perception to ethics, and thus impacts in its formation in different organizational settings.
People from different cultures generally do not have the same values. Because values are linked to ethical beliefs, codes of ethics must consider these divergent value systems. This explains the vast differences in terms of ethical values that exists between companies operating in different countries or cultural environment.
Firms attempt to manage ethical behavior across borders by being sensitive to different cultures, cultural sensitivity issues such as different business customs, practices and preferences,etc. In other words, by developing a strong understanding and knowledge of the ethical standards of different cultures and training their employees on such issues, firms make it sure that they are able to maintain high ethical standards in different countries.
