It could have a negative impact on the overall motivation of the company. Sometimes people insist on using ALL of their sick leave days coming to them. In a sense, this might be looked at as abusing the system, which is in place for those who might get sick, not a given. For example, the firehouse company demands teamwork and if someone is taking most (or all) of their sick leave days, the motivation of the team might be affected in a number of ways. The cohesiveness of the team is disrupted (team members changes; other employees are assigned to the "sick" persons position; perhaps volunteers need to take the place of those top users of the sick leave, who needs to be trained or is not as experienced as other team ...
